Taira is a 3rd-year medical student at Saint James School of Medicine. She is currently taking a year’s leave from school to pursue research. Taira’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Florida and an Associate of Arts from Santa Fe College. During her time at SJSM, Taira was the President of the General Surgery Club, Vice President of the American Medical Student Association (AMSA), Match a Resident Ambassador, and assisted in community health fairs.
After graduation, Taira plans to pursue a career in either General or Cardiovascular surgery with hopes to continue to conduct research. Taira hopes to find ways to reduce the rising rate of heart disease and depression amongst minority women.
In her free time, Taira enjoys traveling, shopping and beauty. She is a big food lover and loves to try new places to eat. Taira is blessed, honored, and grateful to be a part of the team here at the play2PREVENT Lab at Yale.
